Gold Rush One
Home
Helena, Montana

This home was designed and built by me for my own use. It is located within a neighborhood of traditional builder spec homes on a difficult, sloping site situated below street level. A long, tall form with truncated ends presents a field, or ground, to the street for a tradition inspired porch. Openings respond to interior functions while avoiding direct view inside from the busy sidewalk traffic with exception at the more public dining area. Privates spaces are located behind this facade opening up to a regional view beyond. Interior spaces are dramatic with well lit, high ceilings on the first floor and a barrel vault on the second floor. Colors tie the bold, spatially responsive language to the neighborhood context.
